The two-time Chinese footballer of the year, Wu Lei has just signed a sponsorship deal with GD6, an online betting platform based in Singapore. The company revealed its new partnership on their social media channels, posting an image of the football star signing his contract and holding up the red t-shirt bearing the GD6 logo.
The sponsorship will be done through a kit deal, which includes jersey branding, promotional materials, and advertising campaigns for the next two years, including social media platforms.
“I am very happy to be able to work for this company,” said Wu Lei in a statement. “GD6 is one of the most reputable betting sites, and I hope that through my participation, we can help promote football.”
Wu is one of China’s best players and has signed for Shanghai SIPG F.C., the team that he helped to win back-to-back league titles in 2015 and 2016. His popularity overseas was confirmed when he became the first Chinese player to be nominated for FIFA’s 2017 Best Player Award. In 2019, he transferred to RCD Espanyol.
“He embodies what it means to be fearless on the field and we hope his dedication will translate well into our gaming environment,” said Gary Lee, the Media Director of GD6, “and we hope this partnership can help more people understand how sports betting and enjoy it responsibly.”
GD6 is looking to capitalize on the sports-mad country by partnering with one of China’s most famous footballers and hope that this relationship will help drive up brand awareness in China and throughout Asia.
